CAN'T FAKE NATURE - High / Low Tide (EP) [2012]

Can't Fake Nature was put up in 2010 as a workshop for exploration of slow, rolling and ambient sounds that would be set as a soundtrack for documentary flicks on deep sea life. This project draws much from the legendary Earth whose disregard for standard song concept with repetitive verse-chorus structures was considered groundbreaking very early. The focus was on the process of creating musical structures over an imaginary image or a movie sequence. Thus the plot and context became the essence, while premeditated songwriting was secondary. The compositions we now witness have started to take form later when the project turned in a real full-blooded band.

A band from West Bend, WI, formed in 2005. Featuring husband and wife guitarist Ross Severson and keyboardist Aggie Severson along with bassist Chris Biertzer and drummer Nathan Gaffney. Canyons of Static is an instrumental quartet that blends the distorted melodies of shoegaze with the intensely emotional aspects of post-rock. SESSIONS - Metacognition (EP) [2012]

Sessions is a five-piece groove metal band from Northern Virginia consisting of Lance Titus, Sahand Manafi, John Sessions, Harrison Watkins and Alex LePelch. Each individual has put forth time and effort that creates a huge sound and a very tight live band. As musicians, they care deeply about their product and about their current and future fan base. Having only a few shows under their belt, they sound as if they have been together for years, but this up and coming band is only a year old with lots of room to expand and develop their craft. Currently they have just finished their first EP with an up and coming producer, Chris Purvis (Friend for a Foe) who gave them a production sound that is just a huge as their live sound.

This new album is really awesome. Ben Sharp doesn't just made an other djent stuff (that you forget immediatly) and delve atmospheres and progressive side. Highly recommended.
