Protolith is a northern Connecticut/western Massachusetts based metal band that started in the fall of 2009. Their music combines elements of nu-metal; post-rock/metal; new age jazz; progressive metal; and black metal. Their first record “Light”, was recorded at Valiant Recording & Engineering and released in fall of 2010 featuring six songs written by Josh Ivaldi, Matt Ares, Shalin Shah and Brian Nadeau. They are currently writing Light’s follow-up record, Dark and plan to release later in 2011. They will also be featured on Covers For A Cure: Volume 2, a compilation to benefit breast cancer research that features New England area bands.
